What is WEEE? Which products need WEEE registration? WEEE, the full English name of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment, is the European Union's recycling directive for waste electronic and electrical equipment.
The European Union issued WEEE on February 13, 2003. In 2012, the directive was officially published in the official journal of the European Union and took effect on August 13, 2012. The purpose of this directive is to reduce the production quantity of waste electronic and electrical equipment, promote its recycling, reduce the residual waste electronic and electrical equipment, and improve the environmental efficiency from production to waste process. Of all European countries, Germany has the strictest requirements for environmental protection.
Necessity of certification
From August 13, 2005, the manufacturers of electronic and electrical equipment circulating in the EU market must legally assume the responsibility of paying for the recovery of scrapped products. At the same time, EU member states are obliged to formulate their own electronic and electrical product recovery plans and establish relevant supporting recovery facilities, so that the end users of electronic and electrical products can conveniently and freely dispose of scrapped equipment.
