Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has warned consumers to stop using CCATTO baby tents immediately because they do not meet the mandatory federal safety standards for baby sleep products, and because they contain prohibited baby pillows, they may lead to the danger and risk of asphyxia of infants who fall down.
The baby tent does not meet the safety requirements of CPSC for baby sleep products, creating an unsafe sleep environment for babies. The failures include: the tent does not have independent leg support, does not meet the requirements of markings, labels, and explanatory literature. In addition, there are also prohibited baby pillows in the tent. The pillow is loosely filled with granular materials, including but not limited to polystyrene beads or particles, designed or sold for use by children under one year old. The tent and its packaging also lack tracking labels that contain certain necessary information, including manufacturing dates.
Chinese seller LA. INNO Direct did not respond to CPSC's recall request.
Baby tents are promoted as portable baby tents, CCATTO pop-up baby beach tents, enhanced ventilation, UPF 50+baby sunshades, baby Camp bed with mosquito nets (including nails, travel bags, additional cooling sleep kits). The top of the baby tent is printed with the words "CCATTO" in gray with neon green trim. Baby tents have been sold online on Amazon and other websites for approximately $30 in recent years. There is no label on the baby tent.
Although the baby sleep product rules apply to products produced after June 23, 2022, CPSC urges the company to consider discontinuing the sale of non compliant baby sleep products, regardless of the production date. The required production date is not indicated on the products or packaging of these tents. CPSC urges consumers to stop using tents, cut fabrics, and immediately dispose of fabrics and pillows. Report any incidents involving product injury or defects to CPSC
Remind parents and caregivers:
The best place for babies to sleep is on a sturdy and flat surface in a crib, cradle, or playground.
Only use suitable sheets and do not add blankets, pillows, padded crib bumpers, or other items to the baby's sleeping environment.
Babies should always be allowed to sleep on their backs. Infants who fall asleep in a tilted or upright position should be transferred to a safe sleeping environment with a sturdy, flat surface, such as a crib, cradle, or playbed.
