EU REACH Announces 30th Batch of 6 SVHC Reviewed Substances

On September 1, 2023, the European Union Chemicals Administration (ECHA) officially launched a public consultation and evaluation of the 30th batch of six candidate substances for SVHC on its official website. The consultation and evaluation lasted for 45 days and will end on October 16, 2023. During the evaluation period, various stakeholders can submit their evaluation opinions on the ECHA website. The reviewed substances may be included in the SVHC official substance list after subsequent voting by the European Union. The six evaluated substances are as follows:

Among them, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) has been officially added to the substance list in the first batch of SVHC, and this review only provides supplementary explanations for its hazardous characteristics. Except for DBP, other substances approved in this evaluation activity will become the official substance list of the 30th batch of SVHC.

Only 6 substances of high concern (SVHC) have been proposed for inclusion in the candidate list this time. In addition, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) was added to the official list of SVHC as early as October 2008, and this time it has been reviewed again due to its endocrine disrupting properties (Article 57 (f) - Human Health) as a new type of hazard. Therefore, the total number of SVHC in the candidate list for December 2023 is expected to increase from 235 to 240.
